2025 USATF Indoor Championships Preview

The 2025 USATF Indoor Championships, presented by Prevagen, take place from Saturday, February 22 – Sunday, February 23 right here at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The event returns to Ocean Breeze for the first time since 2019 and features the best athletes in the sport today! 

Event Preview:
 

60m Hurdles:
 
2024 Paris Olympic Gold Medalist in the 110m hurdles, Grant Holloway, headlines the field in his return to Ocean Breeze. Holloway is the world record holder in the event as well as Ocean Breeze Facility Record Holder in the 60m hurdles. Holloway was named the Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year at the 2024 USATF Night of Legends. Holloway is a three-time World Champion & the 2019 recipient of The Bowerman. 
2024 Paris Olympic Gold Medalist in the 100m hurdles, Masai Russell, headlines the 60mH field at the 2025 USATF Indoor Championships. Russell is the US NCAA Record Holder in the 100m hurdles. Russell was the recipient of the Breakthrough Performer Wing Award at the 2024 USATF Night of Legends event. Union Catholic High School senior Taylor Cox is slated to compete in the 60mH. Cox is the Ocean Breeze High School Facility Record Holder in both the 55mH & 60mH. Cox is committed to the University of Georgia. She is the New Jersey Indoor State Record Holder in the 60mH at 8.11, breaking the record previously held by Four-Time Olympic Gold Medalist, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. 

60m Dash:
 
Jacious Sears, current the world leader in the 60m, took first-place at 2025 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix & then set a new PR of 7.02 at the 2025 Milrose Games. Sears ran the second-fastest 100m in NCAA history in April 2024 at 10.77, only behind Sha'Carri Richardson. Mikiah Brisco is a multi-time NCAA Champion in the indoor 60m in both 2020 & 2022. Brisco took silver at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships in the 60m. Brisco also holds the Ocean Breeze Facility Record in the 60m at 7.07 set back in 2022. Ronnie Baker leads the men's 60m field at 6.50. The Texas Christian University (TCU) alum is a two-time NCAA Champion in the 60m in both 2015 & 2016. Baker set his 60m personal-best at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He is the sixth fastest man in the history of the 100m at the Olympics. Trayvon Bromell represented Team USA at both the 2016 Rio & 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Bromell holds the Ocean Breze Facility Record in the 60m at 6.50, which he set in 2021. Bromell most recently took home gold in the 100m at the 2022 Diamond League. 

400m
Chris Bailey & Vernon Norwood lead the field in the men's 400m. Bailey & Norwood head to Ocean Breeze after winning gold together in Paris as part of the 4x400 relay team. Joining them in the 400m is the fellow 4x400 gold medalist & 2024 USATF Youth Athlete of the Year, Quincy Wilson. Wilson holds the Ocean Breeze High School Facility Record in the 300m at 33.11 
Olympic Gold Medalist Alexis Holmes enters the women's 400m as the top-seeded entrant. Holmes was a member of the USA 4x400 relay team that took home the gold in Paris. Holmes won first-place in the 400m at the 2019 Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships, the 2020 & 2022 SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships. 

Isabella Whittaker enters the 400m at the 2025 USATF Indoor Championships & is
very familiar with Ocean Breeze. Whittaker is the Ocean Breeze Collegiate Facility Record Holder in both the 300m & 400m. Whittaker most recently finished sixth in the 400m at the US Olympic Trials & was named to the Team USA 4x400 Relay Pool. 
Also entering the 400m is 2016 & 2020 Olympic Gold Medalist, Dalilah Muhammad. The New York native & USC graduate returns to her home state to compete in the 2025 USATF Indoor Championships 

800m
The new American Record Holder in the Indoor 800m, Josh Hoey, enters the 800m this weekend at Ocean Breeze. Hoey clocked 1:43.90 at the 2025 Millrose Games to set the new American Record, previously held by Donavan Brazier. 
Brandon Miller also enters the 800m after representing Team USA at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Miller ran a PR of 1:43.73 in the semifinals at the US Olympic Trials. Miller is the American Collegiate Record Holder in the 800m and a multiple time All-American as a member of the Texas A&M track & field team. As a senior in high school, Miller was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Boys Track at John Burroughs School in St. Louis, Missouri. 
New Jersey native Olivia Baker enters the 800m this weekend. Baker returns to Ocean Breeze after taking third-place in the 600m back at the 2019 USATF Indoor Track & Field Championships, which were held here at Ocean Breeze. Baker is an 11-Time All-American from Stanford University & was the 2016 Pac-12 400m champion. Addison Wiley, the holder of the high school national record in the 1600m at 4:26.16 & the collegiate record in the 1500m at 3:59.17. Wiley competed here at Ocean Breeze at the 2022 Nike Indoor Nationals, earning All-American honors in the mile & 800m. Wiley is an eight-time NAIA Champion. 

1500m:
 
Katelyn Tuohy, the Ocean Breeze High School Facility Record Holder in the 1500m at 4:20.81 returns to Ocean Breeze this weekend. Tuohy is a five-time Gatorade Player of the Year & is a four-time NCAA Champion at North Carolina State. Tuohy is the NCAA Indoor Mile Record Holder & guided the Wolfpack to three-straight NCAA Cross Country Championships. 
Ocean Breeze Facility Record Holder in the 1500m at 4:06.32, Heather Maclean, returns to the 1500m this weekend. The University of Massachusetts alumna earned All-American Honors in Cross Country at the 2017 NCAA Championships. Maclean set her new personal-best in the 1500m at the 2024 US Olympic Trails this past June. Henry Wynne, the University of Virginia alum & 2016 NCAA Mile Champion is competing in the 1500m. Wynne, a member of the Brooks Beasts Track Club, set the world record in the DMR in April 2024. He is a two-time USATF Indoor Championship runner-up in the mile. Wynne set his PR in the 1500m at the 2024 US Olympic Trails in Eugene, Oregon at 3:32.94. 
Hobbs Kessler, fresh off his 3:46.90 in the mile, the Number Two All-Time Indoor Time is entered in the men's 1500m. His split time of 3:31.89 in the 1500m is his new indoor personal best. He finished fifth in the 1500m final the 2024 Paris Olympics at 3:29.45. 

3000m
 
Nikki Hiltz, the American Record Holder in the Mile & Six-Time NCAA All-American competes in the 3000m along with current US # 1 Whittni Morgan in the 3000m. Morgan returns to New York after winning the 3000m at the 2025 Millrose Games.  
2024 Paris Olympics Silver Medalist in the 3000m steeplechase, Kenneth Rooks, enters the men's 3000m along with Dylan Jacobs & the aforementioned Kessler. 

High Jump
The current NCAA men's leader in the high jump, Eli Kosiba, recently cleared 2.30m to tie the DII High Jump Record in December. The Grand Valley State University Graduate Student heads to Ocean Breeze this weekend. 
Vernon Turner, the youngest man to qualify for the 2024 US Olympic Trails in the high jump, opposes Kosiba in the high jump. Turner was the 2022 NCAA High Jump Champion competing for the University of Oklahoma. 
Ryan Buskey, Colonie, fresh off setting the Ocean Breeze High School Facility Record at 7-2/2.18m is competing in the high jump. Buskey has the New York State Record of 7-4 as one of his goals this indoor season. 
Vashti Cunningham, the 13-time US High Jump Champion, has won seven-straight USA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Cunningham most recently finished in third place at the 2024 US Olympic Trails with her high jump of 1.91m. She is also the Ocean Breeze Facility Record Holder in the High Jump. The current NCAA women's leader in the high jump at 1.94, Jenna Rogers, leads the women's high jump field. The Nebraska senior from Rutherford, New Jersey looks for her chance to represent Team USA this weekend. She is a three-time Big Ten Champion in the high jump. 

Pole Vault:
 
2020 Tokyo Olympic Gold Medalist & 2024 Paris Olympic Silver Medalist, Katie Moon, is slated to compete at the 2025 USATF Indoor Track & Field Championships. Moon is the current World Number One in the Pole Vault, clearing 4.83 on February 13 in France. Moon is the Ocean Breeze Facility Record Holder in the Pole Vault. 
Rutgers University senior Chloe Timberg, the current NCAA # 2 in the pole vault at 4.72m & Ocean Breeze Collegiate Facility Record Holder in the Pole Vault, looks to represent Team USA in the pole vault with a top-two finish. 
Chris Nilsen, the current world number two leads the field for the men's pole vault. Nilsen won silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Sam Kendricks, the current world number five is scheduled to compete in the pole vault alongside Nilsen. Kendricks won a silver medal at he 2024 Paris Olympics in the pole vault. 
 
Long Jump & Triple Jump: 
Top-ranked American long jumper Issac Grimes leads the field in the long jump at 8.13m, which he recorded in January. Joining Grimes in the long jump competition is Salif Mane, the Ocean Breeze Facility Record Holder in the long jump at 7.84m. Mane finished in sixth-place at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Mane is also competing in the triple jump. Jasmine Moore, coming off the 2024 Paris Olympics in which she took the bronze medal in both the long jump and triple jump enters the long jump field seeded at 6.71. Moore is also competing in the triple jump. Tionna Tobias looks to qualify for Team USA. The University of Iowa alumna spoke with Ocean Breeze last month on her upcoming goals headed into the championship. The current top-three ranked United States male triple jumpers are all entered in the championships: Russell Robinson, Brandon Green, & Sean Dixon-Bodie. Donald Scott, the Ocean Breeze Facility Record Holder in the Triple Jump is also scheduled to compete.
 
Shot Put: 
Roger Steen, Adrian Piperi, Nikolas Curtiss, currently all ranked in the USA top-five in the men's shot put are all headed to Ocean Breeze this weekend.  
Current US # 1 & US # 2, Chase Jackson & Keayla Dove are entered in the women's shot put. Jackson owns the Ocean Breeze Facility Record in the women's shot put at 18.62m. Jackson is a three-time All-American at Oklahoma State University & a two-time Shot Put World Champion in 2022 & 2023. She tied the North American & national record in the shot at the 2022 World Indoor Championships. 
University of Houston Graduate Student, Keayla Dove, is the current NCAA leader in the women's shot put at 19.46m. Dove is the current Big 12 Conference Women's Track & field Co-Athlete of the Week. Dove has earned three All-American honors in her collegiate career. 

Weight Th

Daniel Haugh, the Ocean Breeze Facility Record Holder in the men's weight throw returns to competition at Ocean Breeze this weekend. Isaiah Rogers & Tanner Berg oppose Haugh in the weight throw field.  
Janeah Stewart, the Ocean Breeze Facility Record Holder in the women's weight throw event along with 2024 Paris Olympic Silver Medalist in the Hammer, Annette Echikunwoke. 2024 NCAA Indoor Weight Throw Champion, Jalani Davis is in the competition. She is just the third ever collegiate athlete to eclipse the 25m mark in the weight throw.
