  • Track & Field 101 teaches children ages 6-12 the basic fundamentals of track & field: sprinting, jumping, throwing, and endurance running. Track & Field 101 provides children the opportunity to not only learn track & field fundamentals, but also the value of teamwork. Track & Field 101 has many organized activity stations for fun competition. Each station has a specific purpose and time allocated to learning and practicing new track & field skills.

  • Track & Field 101  is slated for two hours (120 minutes), typically 11am – 1pm 
  • T & F 101 - Tuesday or Thursday

Location and Duration
  • Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, 625 Father Capodanno Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10305
  • Each Track & Field 101 is slated for two hours (120 minutes)
  • The track will be closed to the public during this time

Set-up & Introduction
  • The Ocean Breeze staff provides the necessary equipment needed for the Track & Field 101 prior to the start of the event.
  • Our staff will introduce themselves to the students and teachers before our dynamic stretch and warm up begins.
Dynamic Stretch & Warm Up
  • All students are led by the staff through a variety of different stretches, dynamic movements, and dancing for the warm-up session. The warm-up takes between 10-15 minutes before the students are split into different stations.
Teambuilding & Group Stations
  • After the students are split into groups and assigned a leader, the teambuilding stations will develop and reinforce teamwork. Some of our teambuilding stations include; The Number Game, Shipwreck, Going Back to Back, Hula Hoop Rescue, Ocean Breeze Ninja Warrior, Astros, etc.
 Skill-Development Stations
  • Track & Field 101: The skill-development stations will work on everything that is fun about track & field! Introducing students to the long jump sand pits, executing how to hold and throw the shot put/javelin, shuttle hurdle relay race, etc

Cool Down
  • We end the Track & Field 101 with some light stretching, yoga, and breathing exercises.
