WaveRunners Add More Medals to 2026 Outdoor Campaign at the Spring Fling Invitational

The Ocean Breeze WaveRunners delivered an impressive all-around performance, showcasing depth across sprints, distance, hurdles, and field events with numerous podium finishes at the 2026 Spring Fling Invitational at Icahn Stadium.

On the boys' side, standout efforts came from Andrew Lee, who dominated the 17–18 sprint group with a first-place finish in the 100m (11.76) and a strong second in the 200m (23.49). Distance runners also shined, led by Hudson McGuire, who swept the 9–10 age group with victories in both the 800m (2:27.48) and 1500m (4:59.00). Teammate Ali Azemi added valuable points with a third-place finish in the 800m and second in the 1500m. In the older distance group, Volodymyr Tsybriy claimed gold in the 800m (2:04.29), while Adrianko Tomecek earned bronze in the 1500m.

The field events were another major strength. Jonathan Rice and Josiah Green each secured double victories in shot put and javelin in their respective age groups, while Brian Mitchell Jr. took gold in shot put (9–10) and added a bronze in javelin. Skylar Lam cleared 1.30m to win the high jump (11–12), and Victor Zhao matched that height for second in the 13–14 division. Additional podium finishes came from Cassel Smith (100m), Edwin Chen (hurdles), and several long jumpers including Richard Collyer and Noah Ramos.

The girls' team matched that success with dominant distance performances from Nicole Valladares, who won both the 800m (2:38.48) and 1500m (5:30.35) in the 9–10 division. Victoria Pavani and Genevieve Pantaleo added podium finishes in the 1500m across age groups. In hurdles, Catherine Robisky secured second place and later added another runner-up finish in the long jump.

Field events were a highlight for the girls as well. Naomi Odumbo led the 8U division with a shot put victory and javelin bronze, while Cheyanne Edwards and Ava Piscopo each captured first place in both shot put and javelin in their respective age groups. Ella Longobardi topped the 13–14 javelin field, with Edwards finishing second. In the long jump, Savannah McGuire and Presely Capone went one-two in the 11–12 division.

Overall, the Wave Runners demonstrated strong versatility and consistency, with multiple athletes earning podium finishes and several capturing multiple medals.
