The Ocean Breeze WaveRunners kicked off their 2019 Cross Country campaign at the USATF New York Cross Country Series Meet #1 at Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday, September 22. The meet is one of four in the series, which leads up to the USATF New York Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships on Sunday, November 10. As a team, the WaveRunners earned 11 medals and placed first overall in the boys 8 & under division and 9-10 division and second overall in the girls 8 & younger and 9-10 division.

MEDAL WINNERS:
Lauren Rodriguez won the Girls 9-10 3K run with her time of 13:11.9, beating out second-place by nearly 26 seconds.

Joseph Calabrese finished in fifth place in the Boys 9-10 3K run (12:50.0)

Malina Rodriguez-King took fifth place in the Girls 9-10 3K run (13:43.6)

Avery Rosado finished two spots behind Calabrese in the Boys 9-10 3K run (13:27.2)

Peter Trapani Jr. (9:23.3), Stephen Baron-Williams (9:27.1) & Yousef Ahmed (9:33.7) finished ninth, tenth, & 12th, respectively, in the Boys 8 & under 2,000 meter run.

Leopold Hermann (16:48.4) & James Adamo (16:52.9) finished 11th & 12th, respectively, in the 13-14 Boys 4K run.

Dylan McGinley (13:47.8) & Alvin Chen (13:52.7) finished 13th & 14th, respectively, in the Boys 3K run.
