The 2022 Ocean Breeze Youth Invitational, the third and final indoor track and field meet of the 2021-22 Ocean Breeze "Youth Challenge Series," took place on Sunday, January 23 here at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The student-athletes had the opportunity to earn the right to compete in the 2022 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, which takes place on Sunday, February 6 here at Ocean Breeze.

The Ocean Breeze WaveRunners were back in action on Sunday and posted impressive times during the Ocean Breeze Invitational while posting over 130 personal bests.

• Malina Rodriguez-King won the girls 11-12 800m with her new PR of 2:27.06.
• Avery Rosado won the boys 11-12 800m with his new PR of 2:25.81.
• Girls 8&U 4x200 Relay Team (Clevecia McPherson, Jamaria Phillips, Sienna Sheen, Nataliah Smith) tok second place at 3:10.05.
• Stephen Baron-Williams took first-place in the 9-10 boys 300m (50.06)
• Katelyn Kliesch won the girls 13-14 1500m at 4:56.02.
• Veronika Schwartz, Serenity Jones, Zaria Lapointe & Tallulah Ramos won the 11-12 girls 4x200 relay at 1:58.14.
• Demetrius Jones Jr., Adam Slowikowski, Taj Timberlake, Robert Genco Jr. took second-place in the boys 4x200 relay.

The New Balance Indoor Grand Prix will be held on February 6, 2022 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, NY. In accordance with the regulations currently in place in the City of New York, all persons ages five and older will need to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to be allowed access to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
