Susan Wagner High School swept the boys & girls 2019 PSAL Staten Island Indoor Track & Field Championships on Wednesday, February 6 here at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The Falcons took home the boys trophy with 206 overall points, edging out McKee/Staten Island Tech, who finished in second place with 189 points. The girl's team posted 184 points, holding off Curtis, who finished in second place with 139 points.

Susan Wagner boys 206 overall points were due in part to 10 first-place finishes in the following events: 55 Meter Dash (John Vitucci – 6.89), 300 Meter Dash (John Vitucci – 37.04), 600 Meter Run (Christian Fernandez – 1:28.64), 1600 Meter Run (Josep Romero – 4:40.61), 3200 Meter Run (Muhammad Qadri – 10:09.60), 4x800 Relay (Evan Daneluzzi, Christian Fernandez, Michael King-Rodriguez, Daniel Wronski – 8:33.25), 4x400 Relay (Isaiah Cook, Daniel Wronski, Michael King-Rodriguez, Christian Fernandez – 3:41.22), Shot Put (Adrian Pocesta – 42-10.75), Triple Jump (Maxemilien Corpus – 40-09.00) & the Weight Throw (Adrian Pocesta – 58-00.)

The Susan Wagner girls team posted eight first-place finishes in the following events: 1500 Meter Run (Kathryn Altieri – 4:58.90), 3000 Meter Run (Kathryn Altieri – 11:17.95), 4x800 Relay (Madison Codoner, Victoria Morrongiello, Abigail Hughes, Kathryn Altieri – 10:23.10), 4x400 Relay (Awawu Alade, Angelina Olah, Francesca Sestito, Esther Turay – 4:18.35), Shot Put (Christina Groleau – 29-10), Triple Jump (Camille Adams – 32-10), Pole Vault (Nadia Beck – 6-08) & Weight Throw (Christina Groleau – 42-00.)

Other notable performances include Matthew Goetz (Tottenville) taking first-place in the Boys 1,000 Meter Run over Michael King-Rodriguez (Susan Wagner) with a time of 2:41.04, setting a new PR by seven seconds. Timothy Sary (McKee/Staten Island Tech) won the 55 Meter Hurdles with his time of 8.60. McKee/Staten Island Tech also won the 4x200 Relay with a time of 1:35.93. Matthew Marlin (McKee/Staten Island Tech) took first in the high jump at 5-10. Andre Chen (Tottenville) won the boys long jump at 20-01.50.

Kortney Brown (Curtis) took first-place in the Girls 55 Meter Dash & the 300 Meter Dash with times of 7.41 & 41.56, respectively. The Curtis Girls won the 4x200 Relay with a time of 1:51.42. Trinity Kinard (Curtis) took the high jump at 4-08. Cassidy Williams (McKee/Staten Island Tech) took the Girls 600 Meter with her time of 1:39.52 and first-place in the Girls 1,000 Meter Run at 3:16.48. Williams took second in the long jump (14-11.25) with Jessica Prentice (New Dorp) finishing in first with a distance of 6-00.50.
