We are pleased to invite your team to join us for the 11th Annual Ocean Breeze Freedom Games at the NYC Parks' Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex! We are excited to welcome athletes to the fastest indoor facility in the United States!  Our state-of-the-art facility boosts a 6 lane hydraulic track, dual field event areas and a high level climate control systems. We encourage all coaches and parents to read this information since we have made a few changes this year to ensure the best experiences for our athletes and guests. The information included will ensure you and your athletes have a great visit to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. We ask that you pay close attention to the entry deadlines and payment information. All hig school entries will be processed through MileSplit.com. Late entries will not be accepted and payment is due at the time of entry, so please start the process early to ensure that your entries are accepted into the meets. ENTRY INFORMATION AND ELIGIBILITY

The Ocean Breeze Freedom Games is sanctioned by the New York State High School Federation and USA Track & Field.  All athletes wishing to compete at the festival must be representing their high school and be entered by their high school coaches.  Unattached and club athletes are not permitted to compete.

All entries must be submitted online at MileSplit.com prior to the entry deadline that is which will be Thursday, January 1st 11:59 p.m..  This will allow for all teams and coaches to have an updated time schedule and heat sheets prior to breaking for the Holiday.  

All entry fees should be paid online prior to the close of the entry.  Any team with a past due balance from the 2025-2026 season will not be able to compete until the outstanding balances are paid.  Please review the list and make sure your team is not listed and if they are listed please work to clear the balance prior to entering any 2025-2026 Ocean Breeze events.  (Past Due Balance List.)

Entry fees for the 2026 Ocean Breeze Freedom Games:

Individual Events: $9.00 per event
Relay Events: $36.00 per event. 

The preferred method of payment is via credit card through MileSplit.com. Schools that are in need of an invoice should generate their own invoice through Milesplit.com and a check should be mailed in a timely manner.

FACILITY INFORMATION

The Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex is a NYC Parks' facility and we take the safety of our athletes, officials, athletes and spectators very seriously.  Our staff is trained in customer service and here to help you throughout events and should be respected at all times.  Anyone found being disrespectful to staff, not following the rules of the venue or acting in a unruly or unsportsmanlike manner will be asked to leave the facility without a refund.  Shielded security is in place every meet as well as NYPD, in case of an emergency we ask that everyone follows direction given by staff or law enforcement. 

SPIKES
The Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex is home to a Mondo 720X track surface, the fastest surface made but spikes are limited to either 1/8" or 1/4" pyramid spikes, this includes all field events, Mondo recommends that athletes wear 1/8" spikes for optimal performance. Any athletes caught competing in illegal spikes will be disqualified from their events without warning.

EQUIPMENT
The Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex will supply the following equipment during events and athletes are not permitted to use their own:
  • starting blocks
  • batons
  • chalk
Athletes/schools must provide the following:
  • white athletic tape for marks - no other tape or markers can be used
  • throwing implements
  • pole vault poles
  • tape measures
  • 1/8" and 1/4" spikes
WARM-UPS
General warm-ups will take place on the track prior to the start of the meet and closed promptly twenty minutes prior to the first event. After that time all warming up should be conducted on the first floor of the venue or outside the facility.   Coaches and Parents are not permitted on the first floor of the athletic complex.

ENGAGEMENT AND EVENT COVERAGE


The Ocean Breeze Freedom Games will have extensive event coverage through the Ocean Breeze and MileSplit social media platforms. Coverage will include pre and post event articles, live interviews, live results, our new Ocean Breeze Pick-To-Win Fantasy platform, and fan interaction throughout the duration of the event.  All results will be published live on MileSplit.live and available following the conclusion of the event on OceanBreezeNYC.org.

AWARDS

All awards will be available no later then 30 minutes after the conclusion of any event.  All awards can be picked up off of turn two in the awards area, we encourage parents and coaches to snap photos of your athletes on the Ocean Breeze podium at the time of presentation.  At the Ocean Breeze Freedom Games, the top 6 individuals and top 6 relays teams in each event will receive custom medals and all winners will receive a special gift as well.  If the events are broken down into divisions (red, white and blue) only the red division will be awards medals.  

*NEW* for 2025-2026, athletes will be receiving newly designed 4" medals in all four of the Ocean Breeze Elite Series Meets.  Any athletes that medal in the three of the Holiday Festival, Freedom Games or the Invitational will receive an exclusive 6" Ocean Breeze Outstanding Performer Medal.

PARKING

Parking for spectators is located on Father Capodanno Blvd at:
  • Parking Lot 4 (383 meters from the complex)
  • Parking Lot 5 (37m - across the street)
  • Parking Lot 6 (437 meters from the complex)
For those arriving by school bus:
  • Bus parking is located on Father Capodanno Blvd in Parking Lot 9 (2,000m from the complex.)
  • Buses are permitted to drop-off on the West Side of Father Capodanno Blvd. (in front of the ramp, coming from the Verrazano) and pick-up on the East Side of Father Capodanno Blvd (going back toward the Verrazzano Bridge.)
  • Buses MUST park in Parking Lot 9 & are NOT permitted to park on residential streets or in any other parking lots.
Disabled Parking
  • Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex accommodates nine disabled parking spots in our covered parking garage.
  • Once at capacity, additional disabled parking spots are located right across the street in Parking Lot 5.
  • There is a crosswalk for patrons to access the complex as well as an ADA accessible ramp, which leads directly into the track arena.
CONCESSION AND BOX LUNCH INFORMATION

The Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex offers a wide assortment of food which is available during all events. To assist coaches with planning for upcoming trips to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex we have a wide range of dining and box lunch options available to you. Teams or athletes ordering from delivery services (Grubhub, Door Dash, Uber Eats) will need to meet drivers on Father Capodanno Blvd.  Drivers will not be permitted down the main driveway or under the covered parking area.

PRESS AND MEDIA FOR EVENTS

We highly encourage media outlets, press and photographers to visit the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex during events. However, we do ask the following:

Anyone requesting a media pass should contact Ocean Breeze by calling 718-351-7923 48 hours prior to arriving at the athletic complex, to request a credential. If approved, once in the facility you will be provided with a credential, work space and a power source. Internet access is not guaranteed and we suggest having a personal hot spot available. Please respect the athletes and coaches during competition and follow instructions from Ocean Breeze staff at all times. The Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex has the right to revoke credentials and refuse admission.
