Susan Wagner & Notre Dame Take Home 2020 Staten Island Championships

The 2020 Staten Island Track & Field Championships were held at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Saturday, January 12th. For the second time in three years, Susan Wagner took home the boys championship with 150 points and for the fifth straight year Notre Dame Academy won the girls championship with 148 points.

Susan Wagner took first-place in the following events:
55m – Christopher Adekoya – 6.55
1000m – Michael Rodriguez-King – 2:40.29
55mH – Jamel Allum – 8.25
4x200 Relay – 1:33.90
4x400 Relay – 3:36.14
4x800 Relay – 8:23.17
Triple Jump – Maxemilien Corpus – 42-10.50
Shot Put – Edin Capric – 40-09.00
Weight Throw – Marco Altieri – 42-06.75

Notre Dame Academy took first-place in the following events:
600m – Sofia Garcia – 1:42.13
1000m – Sierra Dinneen* – 2:59.45
1500m – Sierra Dinneen* – 4:52.61
*Sierra was named Most Outstanding Girls Track Performer
3000m – Lola Dinneen – 10:51.08
4x800 Relay – 10:27.51
High Jump – Madison Thompson – 4-04.00
Pole Vault – Aileen Hoban – 8-00

Other standout performances in the 2020 Staten Island Championships include St. Peter's Michael Politi running 34.96 in the boys 300m, which is second all-time in Staten Island, only behind former Eagle Lionel Williams time of 34.88 set back in 2006. Politi was named Boys Most Outstanding Track Performer for his performance.

Kortney Brown of Curtis High School won the 55m dash with her time of 7.40 & the 300m dash at 41.39.

The Susan Wagner Girls finished in second place overall with 125 points recording first place finishes in the 4x200 (1:51.01), 4x400 (4:22.75), 55mH (Ava Grace La Marca – 9.81), triple jump (Camille Adams – 33-06), shot put (Ava Thompson – 27-07) & weight throw (Rebecca Andes – 32-06)

Monsignor Farrell took second place overall with 128 points and had first place finishes in the 1600m (Paul Siconolfi – 4:35.22), 3200m (Anthony Bentivegna – 9:47.07) & Long Jump (Anthony Zopich - 22-07).
